The Longer Your Commute, The Lower Your Wellbeing

One in three employees with a commute longer than 90 minutes say they have had recurring neck or back pain within in the past 12 months. And roughly 30% of employees who commute for more than 90 minutes each day are obese.

…I can definitely agree with these results, just from personal experience. No matter how efficient you try to be using your commuting time (e.g., listening to Books On CD if you’re driving or reading/responding to e-mail if you’re on the train), just the thought of the long commute represents a considerable mental strain . . . resulting in the extra donut in the morning or other indulgence once you get home (i.e., eating out instead of cooking-in) . . . as well as reducing your time/energy for exercise. Is that all an “excuse”? Yes — but it is real nevertheless.
Anecdote: Years ago, I had a daily 2-hour (each way) train commute from Long Island to Brooklyn. I knew it was time to change jobs (and commutes) one day when we hit and killed a pedestrian on the tracks . . . and the other long-time commuters on the train were actually mad at the person we hit for delaying the train — talk about losing perspective!…

New Portal 2 Wheatley Footage (Video)

New Portal 2 video introduces British comedian Stephen Merchant (Extras, The Office) as the voice of Wheatley.

…Thank god we have REAL professionals here to tell us if the voice acting sucks. I mean, a normal person like myself might not be able to tell the caliber of a character voice from a scant 3 minute clip, but we are clearly in the presence of those who can. Someday I hope to be as discerning. Were I to type such to-the-point and well calculated comments, I’d probably just appear glib and dismissive. So I guess congratulations are in order for being more vastly more relevant and important than strangers! I eagerly await your credentials, gentlemen….

If World of Warcraft were set in the Mushroom Kingdom: Luigi

Examines how the stars of the Mushroom Kingdom would fit inside the lore of World of Warcraft, depicting Luigi as a noble Paladin.

…The underdog Mario Bros. finally gets his chance to shine as a warrior of light.

The latest video game inspired art series will focus on how a MMO might appear if it were set inside of the Mushroom Kingdom. In this case, we’re just going to use World of Warcraft as a base for class types (afterall - if you understand what an MMO is then you’re, most likely familiar with WoW).
Check out the video below that goes along with the artwork to show fans the steps involved in the piece’s creation….

This is the first new BG of Cataclysm. It’s a new CTF that works like Warsong does, but in a completely new zone.

I recorded this fast and skipped the BG start, but it’s still 12 minutes of fighting including 2 flags captures and win. I am using my 2 new spells in the video, Curtain of Frost and Flame Orb. Sadly, the Combat Text are bugged for the moment so you won’t see the amounts of damage I’m doing (that’s annoying). I have 50004 hp with quests/dungeons gear….

…the latest expansion for City of Heroes was recently released. I was at my computer, minding my own business and looking for a spot to upgrade my account, when out of nowhere this advertisement hit me, proclaiming the glorious deeds able to be done in World of Warcraft and their generous ten day trial. I was torn! Do I stick with my original MMORPG love, or do I drift over to the dark side of gaming where countless hours and relationships have been lost into the ethers of Orc vs Human combat?
Truth be told, it was an easy choice. Let’s look at the traits. Step one is always character creation. World of Warcraft lets you choose from a handful of base races, which each race presenting a number of classes to pick from.
